Tony Jay is a Patent Attorney of 40 years experience in a
wide range of technical fields, with a degree in Applied
Chemistry from the University of New South Wales in
Sydney. He acquired several years of industrial
experience before entering the patent profession in
1969 at NCR in London, working on their newly-
developed micro-encapsulation technologyy.

Qualifying as a UK and European Patent Attorney, Tony
spent a few years in private practice, then moved to
manage the European I.P. department of electrical
materials innovator Raychem, now Tyco Electronics,
whose technologies included heat-shrinkable plastics,
wire and cable insulation, high voltage insulators,
telecommunications networks, and high-frequency
electrical connectors.


Tony served on the Council of the Chartered Institute of
Patent Attorneys in London, and chaired its Education
Committee in launching the Certificate Course in I.P. Law
at Queen Mary College of London University, providing
intensive study for trainees in the profession. He has
lectured extensively at Queen Mary and elsewhere on
patent drafting and other I.P. subjects.

Tony recently retired from Tyco Electronics and is now
applying his wide patent experience at Bryers in Bath.
