Stefano John graduated from the University of Oxford
in 2001 with a Masters degree in Biochemistry and
Molecular Cell Biology specialising in glycobiology,
neurodegenerative pathologies and immunology.
Stefano is a qualified European patent attorney
and is also working towards becoming a fully
qualified Chartered Patent Attorney.
After working as a researcher for a couple of multi-
national pharmaceutical firms, Stefano took a
Masters in Intellectual Property at Queen Mary and
Westfield College. Following a period training at the
European Patent Office in Munich, Stefano worked for
two established Italian intellectual property firms in
Milan, before joining Bryers in April 2009.
Stefano has worked upon a variety chemically based inventions, which include inventions based on polymer chemistry, pro- and pre-biotic food preparations, microbiological and pharmaceutical preparations.

He has particular technical experience of biotechnological inventions, which include specific RT-PCR methods, DNA
Micro-array devices, specific mediums for cell growth and
stem cell applications.
Stefano has experience in assisting clients in project
development searches; the drafting of patent applications;
filing deposit of Microorganisms according to International
standards; prosecuting large families of patent applications
to grant worldwide; assisting in oral proceedings before the
EPO, including oppositions; and preparing patent
infringement legal opinions.
