Graduating in 1967 with honours in physics from Aberdeen University Kenneth Bryer started his career in the profession with a major firm of Patent Attorneys in London, Boult, Wade & Tennant, which had a reputation as one of the more active training firms.
Moving to a provincial practice, where he quickly rose to become a partner, Kenneth was responsible for a wide range of patent subject matter and extended his experience to include the fields of trade mark, design and copyright law.
Eventually, seeking new challenges he set up his own practice, K R Bryer & Co in 1978. Starting in Cornwall, but moving on to Bristol and then Bath, Kenneth has developed the firm to the position it occupies today.
During his years in practice Kenneth has gained considerable experience in all aspects of intellectual property, including taking inventions made by private inventors from initial conception to successful exploitation.

As a result of his early years as a sole practitioner Kenneth has developed additional skills and experience in many areas of professional practice, including litigation, licensing and negotiation in conflict resolution, both in the UK and abroad, for clients engaged in a wide range of cutting-edge technologies. As a result he has been involved in bringing to a successful conclusion many issues which had been considered impossible to resolve.
Kenneth’s professional ethos of providing a complete range of services to clients has been promulgated throughout the firm, so that all professional staff are aware of the range of opportunities available for extension, exploitation and enforcement of client’s intellectual property rights and are trained to act on their behalf in such matters.
Kenneth has also given lectures and seminars, on various intellectual property topics, to a variety of audiences including universities and business groups.
