Judith Coghlan graduated from the University of Oxford
in 2001 with a Masters degree in Physics specialising in
atoms, lasers and optics and various aspects of
condensed matter physics.
After graduating, Judith joined Abel & Imray with whom
she trained for 5 years, resulting in qualification in 2006
as a Chartered UK patent attorney and a European
patent attorney. She is also a European design attorney.
Her clients have included multinational
organisations,
large established UK companies as well as SMEs, Start
Up companies, Universities and individual inventors.
Judith joined BRYERS in 2007.

Judith has handled a variety of subject matter including mechanical, electronic and physics-related subject
matter. She has particular technical experience of the
off-shore construction industry, control systems and
pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Judith has experience in assisting clients in project
development searches; the drafting of patent
applications; advising on filing strategies; prosecuting
large families of patent applications to grant worldwide;
proceedings before the UK Intellectual Property office,
including opposition of a post-grant amendment; and
advising on patent infringement issues.
She also has particular experience of advising on and
filing Community designs.
