Andy Leppard graduated from Salford University in
1992 with an Honours Degree in Electronics& Semi-
conductors and joined his undergraduate sponsor.
Andy obtained over 10 years electronic engineering
experience in UK and multinational organisations.
His work involved research & design, as well as the
management of multi-national projects. He obtained
particular experience in data processing systems,
imagining technologies, communications systems,
software systems and autonomous guidance &
control systems.

Andy is a Chartered Engineer, a Registered European
Engineer, a Member of the Institute of Electrical
Engineers, a Member of the Engineering Council and
a Member of Fédération Européenne d'Associations
Nationales d'Ingénieurs.

Seeking a new challenge Andy joined a leading
European private practice, D Young & Co., to train
as a patent attorney, obtained a post graduate
certificate in Intellectual Property from the
University of London and is now qualified as a
European patent attorney, a UK patent attorney
and a European design attorney.

Andy has worked in private practice for nearly 10
years. His clients include Blue Chip technology
companies; UK, US, Chinese and Japanese
Corporations; as well as lesser known SMEs,
Universities and individual inventors. Andy joined
BRYERS in 2006.

Andy specialises in all aspects of electronic,
telecommunication and software engineering. Andy has
particular experience in: analogue & digital electronics;
microprocessor, peripheral & memory design; digital
audio and video technologies; wired and wireless
telecommunications systems; semiconductors; consumer
electronics; software systems; and secure networked
business and financial systems.

Andy has experience in assisting clients in identifying
inventions; the drafting of patent applications; advising
on filing strategies; portfolio management; prosecuting
patent applications to grant worldwide; Oral Proceedings
before the Examining Divisions and the Boards of Appeal
of the European Patent Office; and advising on patent
infringement issues. 

Andy is an Examiner for the Joint Examination Board who assess candidates for entry on the Register of Patent Attorneys in the United Kingdom. 

He provides training courses for trainee patent attorneys prior to sitting the United Kingdom advanced examination on "Patent Infringement and Validity" and the European qualifying examinations on "Patent Drafting" and "Patent Amendment".

He also provides training courses in conjunction with the Management Forum for non-patent attorneys working in this field entitled "A Practical Introduction to International Patent Law and Practice - For Non-Patent Professionsals".

Andy also has a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies
from the University of London.
